A statement supporting the importance of the coaching role of teachers in enterprise activities, based on the experiences of Junior Achievement Slovakia.
Purpose and process
Creativity allows entrepreneurs to create products and services that competitors cannot provide, expanding the marketplace. Students must have access to an experimental environment where they can take risks and try out new ideas. Teachers must no longer designate entrepreneurial students as right or wrong, but must instead act as coaches and help students pursue their goals.
- Benefit from a more 'open' environment in which they can take responsibility for their own learning, practise skills, take risks and try out new ideas in a supported context;
- Develop a different relationship with their teacher as coach.

Students should be allowed the freedom to think out of the box. As their initial ideas might be abstract or unrealistic, it's the teacher's coaching that will enable them to decide which ideas to persue and how to turn them into practical/ concrete ideas.
Coaching – a style of teaching based on closer relation between teacher and his students. It is not only about giving knowledge to others but also shoving opportunities to find solution for given tasks based on real situation. Coach, more likely than teacher will asses progress of his pupil rather than put simply some notes.
This tool allows student to feel safe and generate many various ideas connected with udertaken activities eg. mini firm, science festival. It changes the role of a teacher who becomes a coach - this is its great advantage
Τhis tool requires continued updating the knowledge of coaches, continuous assessment/evaluation of both the action taken and guidance for compliance schedules. The credibility of the coach,the encouragement and the fact that he/she works as a ''signpost" for students increases the chances of success of their ventures.
Coaching is very practical tool for this type of working with students. Teacher as a coach can help students when they don't know what is the problem, how they can save the problem and what they really want for themselves within the company. It's recommendable that the teacher has some knoweledge about coaching process, how to give suitable questions and not to make a comment on their solutions.
This method supposes that teachers change their role and act in a different way with their students. They play a new role and don't say what students must do or think anymore. They only place students in a right context for them to feel more responsible and to allow them make their own choices. Teachers only advice. Students also are in a new role : they must make their own choices and take their own decisions that can be difficult; particularly if teachers don't give them the environment they need. Teachers must learn how to do so. Students develop new abilities with this method. It is a very good method for students to learn.
