Vision or plan for entrepreneurship education
ECL has for organizational topic "Commerce as a Professional Project". Therefore, it is a place of innovation where everyday life is dedicated to thinking and re-thinking practices. Our mission is to open new professional and personal horizons to young people - and this means all our students, - through active participation in an educational project that enables the successful management of the students’ personal and professional path.
We have a permanent dialogue and interaction with students and the labor market to increase students’ motivation and participation in the learning process where the student is responsible for his own apprenticeships by developing student-centered activities and methodologies and project work in every year, with the participation of all subjects. These projects are essential to develop students’ entrepreneurial skills that will be fundamental to their final individual Professional Project, the PAP (Professional Aptitude Project).
Focus on student centred learning, integration in different subjects
As previously stated, we have a permanent dialogue and interaction with students and the labor market to increase students’ motivation and participation in the learning process where the student is responsible for his own apprenticeships by developing student-centered activities and methodologies and project work in every year, with the participation of all subjects. This means learning to learn, problem based learning (mostly through Interdisciplinary Projects that respond to community/company challenges), creative and critical thinking and self assessment tools to generate awareness (feedback and reflection).
Our Educational Project has as key point a strong connection with the companies and the labor market through: - Career Management Department with Curricular Work placement data base for students according to latest company needs; Employment Candidates data base – specific for employers, releasing companies from administrative work; Employers data base – provides current job opportunities for graduates and students (part-time jobs) as well as professional traineeships; -Businesspeople Forum - about 20 entrepreneurs from different areas / branches of activity that interact permanently with the school to keep us up to date with innovations and necessities from the labor market and that help to spread ECL's values and activities externally; - Professional Tutor for each class - an entrepreneur is chosen every year for each class. Again, the school believes in a deep interaction with the companies which enables the adequate training of students to meet the requirements of the market and in this case, the student has the privilege to have a face-to-face interaction with this company person; -The judges for the Professional Aptitude Projects who are always from the same branch of activity as the one developed in the student's PAP.
These projects can have real impact in current companies or even increase the market themselves by being implemented and if the students are successful in their Project, this moment can also be a strong recruitment source. - Quality awards: once we have such a strong connection with the companies, we can reward our best students with different prizes from different companies. - Master classes given by specialists.
Evaluation of entrepreneurship education and learning and by whom
Every module of every subject has its evaluation criteria and products which are negotiated with the students in the first class of each module. Therefore, once the entrepreneurial activities are developed in every subject through the Interdisciplinary Project of that year/class, the student is evaluated by the teachers of each subject according to the established criteria and the student's performance. Moreover, the students do a formal presentation at UACS (the house of the Associations of Commerce and Trade) to a group of judges from different organizations / companies and who give them their feedback and assessment of final product/outcome.
Please give examples
The meetings with parents, formal sessions with teachers, students and community, delegation visits within European Union programs. We have recently had a PAP that was such a success that was on TVi ("Você na TV" show) and SIC ("Boa Tarde" show), Correio da Manhã and I-Nova newspapers. The Facebook and site are always filled with the different activities and easy to check.
