Vision or plan for entrepreneurship education

There is a subject called ”Participatory Citizenship and Entrepreneurship” in the Finnish national curriculum for schools.

Our plan aims to fulfill the goals of that subject, because we feel that knowing how the society works, learning to from educated opinions, and being able to speak one’s mind as well as taking responsibility for both one’s own and public matters, serve the students well in finding their place in the world.

We think it is important for the students to learn to deal with change and uncertainty.

Resources to encourage and support entrepreneurship education

We do not have specific resources, but we have good attitude and plans.

Focus on student centred learning, integration in different subjects

The starting point of Entrepreneurship Education at Kotkansaari school is the student. Each school year the perspective gets wider and deeper, focusing more on the surroundings as well as the home town with its services. The aim of the entrepreneurship education programme is to develop the students’ self-knowledge and boost their confidence in learning to take care of their own matters in an independent and responsible way. Students are guided into finding their own path and acknowledging the fact that their own actions and decisions play an important role in their lives.

Evaluation of entrepreneurship education and learning and by whom

We evaluate process and projects verbally. Entrepreneurship is part of all school subjects.
