It's My Future - e-learning module

It’s My Future is an e-learning module created as an add-on to the JA It’s My Business and linked with its curriculum (age 13-15) but can be used in separate. The module focuses on entrepreneurs as role models, inspiring a new generation.

This e-learning:
  • Offers flexible modular blended learning curricula (to be used in and out of school, both individually and/or in groups)
  • Provides advanced learning-by-doing activities
  • Introduces local role models via online tools
  • Offers flexibility based on the various national curricula

Purpose and process

The e-learning provides students a digital introduction and knowledge on different types of entrepreneurs, how to meet a need, how to come up with new ideas and how to present themselves and their ideas. Students will also practice how to believe in their own abilities.
Students can with the e-learning on their own or together with others, in or outside the class work. The e-learning starts with a short introduction providing a short description of the e-learning.

The teacher’s guide provides the teacher with information about the digital curriculum, how the e-learning meets the national curriculum requirements and tips on how the teacher can develop their lesson around each section and additional material if they wish to go a little deeper in each section.

In five sections, they will get to know themselves and their own entrepreneurial skills:

  • Who can be an entrepreneur?: In this section, students can individually or in a group begin to learn about themselves as they answer a series of questions. The purpose of this exercise is to highlight entrepreneurial skills each student already possess and that each student has the ability to become an entrepreneur.
  • Guess the business idea!: In this section, students are introduced to three young entrepreneurs through a series of clues where the student guesses the entrepreneur’s business idea. When the student has guessed correctly, the student can watch a short video clip where the entrepreneur introduces him/herself and his/her business idea.
  • How did it start?: In this section, we learn how the three entrepreneurs started their businesses. Through a series of films we learn how the entrepreneur’s strengths and weaknesses played into their entrepreneurship and what opportunities and threats the entrepreneur saw in starting their business. After watching the film, students answer questions based on the film they have watched. The purpose of this section is to help the students understand that entrepreneurship can be challenging for everyone and how you can build upon interests and/or strengths to persevere.
  • Build your own entrepreneur: In this section, students build an avatar or animated character based on their own interests and strengths. Students then name their avatar and it printed out, so they can present the avatar to the class while explaining those interests and strengths they chose to highlight.
  • Summary: In this section, the teacher and the class discuss what they have learned in the digital curriculum.
